Added on 10/01/25
Our January 2025 Coffee Morning was a fruitful one, thanks to a valuable presentation from Sue Shanahan and Vicky from Trading Standards. The focus was on a crucial topic:
scams. We learned about a wide range of scams, including:
- Door-to-door scams: Unwanted visitors, 'Nottingham Knockers', bogus workmen, and pressure selling tactics.
- Telephone scams: Phishing calls, impersonation scams (e.g., HMRC, banks), and nuisance calls.
- Internet scams: Online shopping fraud, social media scams, and email scams.
- Trending scams: The latest scams circulating, such as investment scams and cryptocurrency scams.
The presentation provided valuable insights and tips on how to:
- Identify and avoid suspicious activity.
- Protect yourself from falling victim to scams.
- Report scams to the appropriate authorities.
We also had the opportunity to share our own experiences with scams, which proved to be a valuable discussion.
A Delicious TreatThe Coffee Morning was made even more enjoyable with a delicious buffet prepared by our lovely Sue and Warden Michael.
