From Armchair to Active: Nordic Walking Program!

During the April coffee morning at the Watford Almshouses, some residents expressed interest in “Nordic Walking.” Trustee Hulya has obtained details of a free six-week course funded by W3RT - Watford & Three Rivers Trust. The next one runs on Thursdays between 24th April and 29th May at Rickmansworth Aquadrome. The sessions start at 10am.

What is the Armchair to Active Programme? The unique
Armchair to Active programme is designed to encourage those who are INACTIVE get ACTIVE by Nordic Walking!
The Nordic Walking Watford website states regular and brisk walking is shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some types of cancer, such as bladder, breast and colon cancer – as well as boost mental health. With this weekly course, we build on technique, distance and pace and have created an easy-to-follow programme with extra support and motivation from our instructors along the way.
The course consists of:
- Six 1-hour instructor-led walks Nordic Walking
- Tuition Guidance on improving pace and distance Weekly training plan
- Motivational hints, tips and factsheets
- Advice on buying the right poles for you
- New friendships!
