The Watford legends and the Town's MP were among those who gathered the 100th birthday of a resident of Watford's oldest inhabited buildings while the "outstanding commitment" of one of the towns best known people has also been recognised.

Watford MP Dean Russell and Watford's greatest ever goalscorer Luther Blissitt joined family and friends to mark the 100th birthday of Kay Simmons, a resident of The Bedford, Morison and Cordery Almshouses in St Mary's Close, Watford.

The MP has also paid tribute to former Mayor and Freeman of Watford Norman Tyrwhitt who has stepped down after 19 years as Trustee of the charity that provides 19 dwellings in the centre of town.
